Sofia Franco
Sofia has been dancing from a young age and has been teaching Middle Eastern dances and ATS® (now called FCBD® style) since 2006. She is an FCBD® Style Certified Studio since 2016 and was part of the ATS Friday Challenge team and was part of the sponsoring team for the TribaLX Festival, an international tribal and FCBD® Style Festival in Lisbon, Portugal.
Parallel to these styles, she started studying Hula in 2006, with Kumu Hula Rich Pedrina, from Halau Hula ‘O Nāpunaheleonāpua (based in Kaneohe and Hilo, Hawai’i) and the Hawaiian culture soon became another great passion. She’s been teaching Hula since late 2007 and is currently an official member of the Halau Hula ‘O Nāpunaheleonāpua, and part of a Kumu Class (teacher training) under guidance of Kumu Rich, alongside other dancers and teachers from all over the world, who wish to carry on the style of their Hula lineage.
Serendipity Workshops
Spread the Aloha!
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced dancer, a kāne (man) or wahine (woman), grab this opportunity to dance together and experience the joy of Hawaiian Hula. Learn hula steps, hand motions and how to coordinate both in the art of storytelling.
We’ll be going through the basics of Hula in a relaxed pace, gaining skills and a valuable insight into Hawaiian culture. Our story for the day will be of the beautiful Kāne’ohe, a magical place on the island of ‘Oahu, surrounded by the magnificent Ko'olau mountain range and Kaneohe Bay, and immortalized in a song by “Auntie” Genoa Keawe in the 1960’s.
Join us, and let’s mālama kekahi a kekahi (care for one another) and build up our mana (energy) together!
