FatChance® style belly dance

Yuri Ferretti
Born in Tuscany, Italy, and relocated in Berlin in 2012, Yuri Ferretti has dedicated the last 10 years of his life learning as much as possible about FatChanceBellyDance®Style.
He finds comfort in the precise and schematic nature of this dance style, which you will have the chance to experience in his classes and workshops. In 2024, he certified in Melody Orullian Bustillos's Sacred Sword format and in the last few years he's been learning and teaching Devi Mamak's dialect and The Siren Project Fan format by Katarzyna Lidia.
After travelling and taking as many workshops and intensives as possible, he became the first man worldwide to graduate FatChanceBellyDance®'s Advance Teacher Training and is now working on his internship towards becoming a FatChanceBellyDance® Advanced Instructor.
Serendipity Workshops
A Fan-tabulous Showback!
Saturday 11.30 - 13.00
Let's add props to the FatChanceBellyDance®Style format!
Katarzyna Lidia created The Siren Project format based on FCBD®Style and, taking a lot of inspiration from her flamenco experience, this resulted in a stunning mix of the two, completed by the addition of a flamenco fan (pericón) as a prop.
Let's step into a new realm and discover a spicy new face of group improvisation! This will peak with a showback at Saturday's hafla in which you'll follow me dancing the slow steps we learnt in the workshop.
A 32-cm Flamenco fan will be required for this workshop.
Dialect from Down Under
Sunday 09.30 - 11.00
You've certainly heard of the Egyptian Sevillana, Arabic Double Turn and many other steps that Devi Mamak brought into FCBD®Style thanks to Vol. 9 - Anatomy of a Step. But have you ever heard of the Drama Queen and the Matador? And what about the Flamenco Triangle or Flamenco Push Forward and Back? Thanks to her experience with FCBD®Style and flamenco, Devi created a whole new vocabulary suitable for the FCBD®Style improvisational format.
In this workshop, we will travel down under to experience some of the numerous moves you can find in Devi's Inspired Combinations Vol. 1 through 3. If you, like me, have got comfortable with repeating the FatChanceBellyDance®Style vocabulary over and over again, this workshop is set to give you a challenge!
Fan the Dance Flame
Sunday 14.00 - 15.30
After a slow showback, let's dive into the fast vocabulary of The Siren Project - it's going to get caliente! We will start with some FCBD®Style moves and see how holding a fan modifies them - open fan, closed fan, fluttering... There are just so many details that completely transform the aesthetics of our group improv! Katarzyna Lidia's vision will sweep you away!
